What’s new this week August 2, 2019

In order to provide incremental value, on a regular cadence, you can expect to see a roll-up of features on a bi-weekly basis.  Feature breakouts or deep dives will continue to happen.  (Look for the plugin blog post in two weeks.)

This is our way of taking you on the journey of how an “Idea Becomes a Feature”. You can track features from Experiment, to Alpha/Beta, to General availability. Below please find some of the features in Experiment and Early Release phases we are excited to announce!

New Experiments

What is an Experiment? Experiment is a test version for us to present to you, our users, ideas on how to solve some of your pain points. This is your opportunity to provide us feedback. We want to hear the good, bad, and ugly so we can create the best feature to solve your problem.

Plugins are a way to extend Spinnaker without modifying Spinnaker itself. Right now users can add custom stages to Orca via plugins!  Watch this demo video to see how easy it will be to use the new plugin system.

Early Release

What is an early release of a feature? It is a feature that is working and installable, but some functionality is likely to be missing and a number of known and unknown issues are likely to surface. It’s a first version. Expect some enhancements from the code before it moves to GA. This is a step closer to a final version! Please call out anything you can’t live without, what you’d like to see changed or improved.

• Configurable Branches in Dinghy: Upgrade to Armory Spinnaker version 2.5.6 + – https://docs.armory.io/docs/armory-admin/dinghy-enable/#custom-branch-configuration
• 2.15.0 is almost released!  Debugging issues should be live shortly…
• Cleaned up GO version of the arm tool. Upgrade to Armory Spinnaker version 2.5.7

General Availability

What is general availability? This is a  feature we have added and fully support in our product offering. Please let us know what is working well, what you’d like to see expanded, added, or improved.
